Last year the VA gave me two hearing aids, on for each ear. Seams I used to be able to hear a mouse pass gas at 50 feet, but, now I can't hear an Elephant Fart with my head up his anal passage.
The VA, after many test and evaluations determined that I had a 49% heaaring loss in my left ear and a 50% hearing loss in my right ear. But using one ear as a good ear and the other as the bad ear means that I only have a 1% hearing loss. Or some kind of nonsense like that. So the VA rated my hearing loss at 0%.

They have me at 50% for Sleep Apnea after a radical operation and need of a CPAP machine for ever, 40% for my lower back 30% for Heart Condition, 30% for upper back problems, 20% for Diabetes and 10% for Actinicc Keratoses. Mixing and spraying Agent Orange.
Still not rated for the PTSD and the Macular degeneration. I hope they hurry before I either Die or fall apart.
Sorry but sometimes it helps to get it off my chest.
Not the sickest puppy in the litter but not the prime pup either.

hearing loss

I have been fighting with the V.A. about my hearing loss from 85 to the present. I have been given two sets of hearing aids and have a letter stating that my hearing loss was combat related. I recently had to be issued a new set of hearing aids. I filed for an increase in my benefits and was told to forget the combat related letter and that every hearing issue had to be through a hearing by the V.A. I forgot to mention that they rated my hearing loss at 0% compansation. I figured that if I was all ready at 0% the only way to go from there was up. WRONG!!!!!!! Even though my hearing loss is getting worse. I was a Gunner and crewchief aboard a UH-34D and have 280 combat missions. I think that the noise levels were extremley high and it cost me to loose my hearing. Is there anyone who can tell me if we can get a DB reading from one of the restored UH-34D's? Any help would be appreciated.

If anyone would like to post the results of there hearing test I can post what they should be rated at.
Just list the results at 1000,2000,3000, and 4000 for each ear and the speech discrimination

Hearing Loss

It finally has happened, after so many years of failing hearing tests and tinitus (sp), the VA has authorized 10% for the tinitus, 0% for the hearing loss, but I do get two digital hearing aids w/batteries. The effective date is no where close to when the petitioning started, but at least it's been done. It seems one has to outlast the bureaucrats and wear them down, until they submit...LOL ! 🙂

Hearing Loss/Tinnitus Separate Issues?

I have hearing loss documented in my service records after Vietnam. I applied for disability for constant tinnitus and loss of hearing in both ears. I presently wear hearing aids purchased 5-6 years ago. Recently at my C&P evaluation for hearing, the audiologist agreed about the hearing loss and also the tinnitus bilateral. My question is does the VA give you 10% for each ear of hearing loss and another 10% for bilateral tinnitus? In other words, should I be entitled to 10% right ear, 10% left ear, and 10% for bilateral tinnitus?

Bilateral Tinnitis

The fact that the VA only awards 10%, for bilateral tinnitus, has been an issue for some time.

There was a move last year to force the VA's hand to award 20% (10% for each ear). Like many other initiatives, for fair compensation, this too failed. The system won again.

I was awarded 10% and sure could use the additional 10% to help make ends meet.

Semper Fi and Merry Christmas to All,

Hearing loss

I too have hearing loss and get 10% for that and 10% for tinnitus. However, if you haven't figured out VA math, it's the same crap they are trying to teach the kids nowdays, you know, 10 + 10 = 10 and 10 + 20 = 20 and 20 + 20 might = 20 or 30 , and so forth. You should also be able to get hearing aids and batteries from the VA. Be carefull if they try to send you to one of those QTC doctors. I went to one and was halfway through my hearing test be fore I asked him if I should take out my hearing aids, ha ha! You may as well have a little fun with them, huh?

The best way of dealing with tinnitus hearing loss is to avoid over exposure to very loud sounds. You should try your level best to reduce your stress levels considerably to deal with tinnitus successfully. Having a proper daily diet which provides you with all the essential nutrients is extremely essential, in order to combat tinnitus effectively. Excessive intake of sugary products and the processed foods should be strictly avoided to cure tinnitus. For those people who consume too much of alcohol, the risk of tinnitus can increases. So, reducing the intake of alcohol is the only way out to deal with tinnitus hearing loss for these people.

What?

So I guess my microwaved mac&cheese is out, along with my Bud. Seems to me the only time the tinnitus weakens is when I exceed my normal limit of both----at the same time.

There were three...

...POP A SMOKE crew on the golf course.

First: "It sure is windy out here."

Second: "It's not Wednesday, it's Thursday."

Third: "I'm thirsty too. Let's head for the clubhouse."

Paul,

Actually you can be paid at a rate greater than 100%. If you have 1 disability rated 100% and other disabilities combined for another 60% you will get additional monies under Special Monthly Compensation. In fact depending on your disabilities it is possible to recieve over 6000.00 a month in compensation for your disabilities.

Hair thinning in both males and females may have a negative effect, physically and psychologically on any patient, young or old. Estimates are that 70% of combined men and women, will lose their hair sometime in their life, reported by medical studies. As per my opinion this play most important rules Fulvic Acid, a natural plant extract found in ancient sea beds, has man uses in the human body. One important function of fulvic is that of an antifungal agent.and I agree with alexjoan .

Hearing loss

The most common cause of hearing loss is excessive use of headphones, standing close to loud speaker, someone shouting in the ear. Also standing close to fighter jets landing place causes hearing loss.

Hearing loss

I recieved a new set of aids this last march and they are great. BUT, they eat batteries very fast. As long as they are willing to send me the batteries, I could care less. The left aid dropped a mic inside of it, and my spare pair are well over 7-8 years old, but it will be a year before I can replace the old aids I can't use anymore.(or ask for it to happen anyway). Their policy. The new are phonak. Believe they are very expensive, and they just don't want to shell out the money for a good set for back ups. Saving that money for the iraq, and afghan vet they told me. Thats a fact. Have no recording of it, but thats what I was told. I'll go over someones head, watch me. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

Wayne, hate you have the hearing problems too. I would say that would do it. I worked at the test cell on Cubi Pt., as well as the engine shop too, and we could blow barrels almost out of sight in the water behind it. They were J-79 Fhantom engines. When that burner hit it would jar the ground, and almost knock you to the ground. That and all the 50 cal fire we fired. If I expect a phone call at anytime even when sleeping, I have to have the aids in, or I miss the ring of the phone. What you say again? Semper Fi, and READY-APP.
