Col. Valluzzi

Rocco's home is in Vista, CA; near CAMPEN.

His wife Katherine is aware that he may get some forwarded e-mails, but does not want visitors at this point in his illness. Rocco's mental status is variable and unpredictable.

S/F,

Mike

Aloha Mike, I served with "Rocco" back at Marble when he was the S-3 for HMH-463. An outstanding Marine pilot and a brave warrior. He saved our butts many a times and brought his crew home safely. I have sent a message to Rocco via your email. If you can, please deliver it to him Semper Fi.

Rocco was in HMM-263, too

Many of us remember Rocco as a great 34 driver, too. I flew with him many times in '66-'67 when he was in 263. He was a great pilot and a real morale booster for the squadron. I'm sure there are many of us that are very sad to hear of his situation.

Mike,
Is there an update on Rocco's health? Please keep us informed. Many former squadron members are interested.

Rocco

My former spouse, Sylvia is taking Katherine Velluzzi out for a break today....if there is any change I will post it. At last update, Rocco is slowly losing the battle, has had several brain surgeries, and is at home with Hospice Care now....according to the oncologists the end is probably just days away.....

Rocco has been shown all of the e-mails posted (or sent to my work site) by members...and we will continue to do that.

S/F,

Mike

Rocco in Pensacola

Very sorry to hear the news about Rocco. He was one of my favorite T-28 flight instructors at VT-3 in Pensacola in late '65 - early '66. He was well liked by all of us who were MARCADs at the time. I will always remember him working the VT-3 radio one day (callsign "Sandbag") when the weather closed in, with brand new solo students flying in the L-4 training area. He coordinated the recall for all to return to South Whiting for landing. Everyone made it back on deck safely. Thanks, Rocco.

Semper Fi,

Roger Herman

Rocco

I heard from Rocco's wife and my former spouse, who has been at their home, that Rocco continues to fight valiantly, but, that he is losing the battle. Hospice is there, and has been for over a month. Katherine is struggling , but has some extra nursing assistance at this point. My ex, Sylvia visits almost daily, and promises to let us know of any changes.

If there are any other members who remember Rocco fondly, they can e-mail me at mike9743@cox.net or mmullen@ochca.com and Sylvia will read the e-mails to Rocco when he is able.

S/F,

Mike

Lt Col Rocco F Valluzzi

It was only recently that I learned of Rocco's passing. I am very saddened by this news. I was one of his many friends in Brooklyn during the 1950's. He had such a great personality and even then he had a outstanding love for the Marine Corps. He had I believe a cousin or uncle who was a Marine, and Rocco always asked him questions, to increase his knowledge of the Marine Corps. We were both members of the !st Inf. Batallion of the Marine Corps Reserve. Time passed and unfortunately we lost track of each other. From reports I have discoverd that Rocco became a leader of men and outstanding Marine Corps officer. GOD bless the Valluzzi family, and the Marine Corps.

SEMPER FI
Let us all say a prayer for Lt Col Rocco F Valluzzi and his family.
