Wally, Here is the information regarding Top Poulson:
Leroy Poulson, MGySgt USMC (ret)
5650 Lancaster Land, Beaumont, TX 77708.
Phone: (409)892-4398.

It is obvious that our prayers have worked. Top is home and was visited by "Skeets" Fairfield and his wife yesterday. Top felt well enough to go out with them to dinner and he did well.

I have just chatted with him "IM" and he is now attempting to contact Col Joe Nelson. Col Joe was our Commanding Officer at VMO-6 when Maj Pless earned the Medal of Honor, and his Crew Capt Fairfield, MGySgt Poulson and LCpl Phelps were awarded the Navy Cross.

Semper Fidelis,
Arthur G Friend

Gunny Poulson

I was a buck sgt (MAG-36 Ord) in '66-'67. My running mate was Sgt Walt Pigford, VMO-6 S2. There was a running poker game at the Head Shed at VMO-6. I'd show up about 2100 after a long day of getting the ammo to all the squadrons.

Gy Poulson and Capt Pless were infrequent adminitrators of the poker games.... read that 'not overly supportive' but they allowed us to function.

One night Gunny Poulson was chewing out Sgt Herman Crumpler (S-3) for .... whatever. Crumpler said, "Excuse me, Gunny, buy I have a really great hand here...." and showed Poulson his hand. The Gunny nodded that he understood and left the room.

Everyone folded. Crumpler had a Chinese straight. Damn. That still pisses me off. I had two pair.
