Got below today.

Got a call from Tom "Doc" Eagles the other day. He has been in the hospital since 18 December on a kidney dialysis machine. In talking with Tom again yesterday, he was doing better, and they had taken him off the dialysis machine for a few days to try to get his kidneys to start functioning normally. So far, so good. He is doing better now, but is still in the hospital. I am sure that he would like to hear from some of his buddies. He can be reached at his cell phone in the Greenville, SC hospital. If you could relay this info to Doc Prouty and some of the other corpsmen as well, I know they would want to know and call him. Am sure the info addees on this message (some have already called) would like to talk to him as well. You may or may not know that Tom and I flew on numerous medevac missions in the '34 in '67. He is the bravest man I have ever met. He would jump out of the helo as we were taking fire going into a hot LZ just as the tailweel was touching down. At the time he was probably 120 lbs soaking wet, and would drag 200 lb. wounded Marines back into the helo. He ended up spending an incredible 71/2 years in-country and undoubtedly saved thousands of lives. After 30 years of active duty he retired as a Master Chief. He then went to work with the Marines at the R&D center in Quantico. He is still saving lives today, as he is the one who invented "Quick Clot", that is currently being used in Iraq and Afghanistan and saving many. They don't come any finer than this
man. Further dissemination on his situation might be in order.
