My dad Wayne Elliott was crew chief et-23 he was in Quang-tri 68-69 anyone remember? Also I have been trying to find a guy he does not know his name just called him huey. thanks for any help
Wayne Elliott,HMM-262.......
Tim, someone should remember both. Just a matter of the right people reading the post. Hope they do. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.
Forty year fade
Hey Tim, You know I'm bad with names. Ask him if he has any pictures of his dad in the day? Take him to the Old Tiger site and show him a picture of Bernie Lee - that may be the "Huey" he's looking for.
Forty year fade.....
Tim, hope the help, WILL help, in finding Wayne Elliott, and Huey there. Shouldn't be to hard to find them. There should be a list somewhere of people that were on Flight skins. I would believe most Squadrons have a list of Flight members, or should have. Many of us were Flying, and wasn't around for pictures. If they are out there, they should realize its them, and get in touch with Tim. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

Ace,
Sure hope Tim has more luck tracking down lists & rosters than I've had over the past several yrs.,doing research for myself & others.
No joy on this end re: squadron personnel rosters, duty status, flight status, modex nos./bunos.,etc.
I guess this info was considered non-essential & didn't make the swoop back to CONUS.
OR...,perhaps.,it's kinda like that item that SHOULD be in the baby food section in the grocery store.,but is NOT. Instead.,it's located in with the ethnic foods.
Just a thought,

Craze, I haven't had much luck finding anyone myself. I need to find two Fixed Wing Pilots that didn't make it back in my Squadron, VMF(AW)235,(The Death Angels), an F-8 Crusader Squadron. They were shot down, and are not on the list anywhere. I can't remember how many times I strapped them in the Pilots seat, both state side, and in 'Nam. Well, one was shot down just as I was getting there, and the other one was on a strafing mission to Khe-san, in Feb.,'68, and didn't come back. An F-8 would burry itself 20-30 ft. deep on a burner-run, if the Pilot was shot before he could pull out of the dive. It angers me. One was shot up so bad, he couldn't land at Danang, so he took off North to the island the N. Vietnamese used as a R&R base, he hit afterburner, and dove the Bird straight into a bunch of them there. So we were told by a wingman. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

On the HMM-262 website they have cruise books posted. Lots of photos. I am sure if they contact the webmaster he can help.

Craze
It would have been nice had all the Squadrons had cruise books. But they didn't, and thats bad as far as finding anyone. Some Squadrons gave ribbons away, where others if you came back all shot up, they would ask,'what took you so long'? Weird. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.

Got a Point John yet I remember not being in the mood the last time they wanted my picture. We had just loss another one of our section and i HAD PUT THAT A/C up just hours before it was out on the mission 80 and all shot to crap with wounded and 1 dead. Jeff Wilson! I woke around 5-6am and went to the head, He was getting clean up ready for the mission, didn't feel so good . I told Him I'd take the flight because I couldn't sleep any ways. Jeff No ! cause He knew it all would start sometime. Guess we all remember the Crew Chief trying to help the newer Guy out. He was right ! you could not learn if everyone took your flights! About 4 hours or so (I had the 1/2 day off for being Duty Crew Chief) Potts came in making Noise and I woke up to learn that mission had been shot down. Knew then it was Jeff and Dan's Air crafts from our Section. :(
