Just finished reading "War Stories" by Ollie North. He was embedded as a correspondent fo Fox News with HMM 268 in Iraq. His experiences there and as a platoon commander in Nam would sure make a great talk at Reunion 2004. What say?
Mr. North
JD & I have both sent e-mails to Mr. North at Fox News and neither one of us has had a response. I was trying to invite him to the Wall for our Memorial Service in May as he lives about 10 miles from me in Northern VA. So, we have tried to get him, but if he does not respond, there is nothing we can do.

Larry, why not go over to his house, and drop off a invite. I'm sure he got his butt saved a few times by us, and might really like to hang out for a while with some of his Marine brothers. I think I met him at Basic School in July '68. My class was graduating around the first of August, and he was in the class that was just starting up. He was a real gung ho new 2nd Lt.

Thanks a good idea, Allyn. Larry, if you're not too busy give him a try. Sure like to hear Ollie speak again. Be great if he would do us the honor!

Definitely OUR kind of guy!
Like Allyn said, He probably owes us one or two hooks just on principle.
Q
security???
Larry
Don't let these guys do it to you again, remember the 60k security system we heard about during the Congressinal testimony. He may still have the Chiwawa on a chain.
It would be great to have him or "Lee Ermy" come out to Reno.
Best,
Roy

OK, I have gone as far as sending this whole thread to the War Stories site and still have not heard anything. Any other techno ideas?
Larry
Get a platoon from 8th & I and lead them right up his driveway on their morning run. Have the platoon sgt hand deliver the invitation.Bet he couldn't ignore that. Don't worry about a thing, I used to double date with Toddy Puller, she'll bail you out!

Don't feel bad about not getting Ollie for Pop-A-Smoke. Ollie was here in NJ last night raising money for the troops. It was called the Hannity Freedom Concert at Six Flafs Great Adventure along with Ted Nugent and put on by WABC AM. There were more than 12,000 in attendance from across the country to raise money for children of military personnel killed in the war on terror. President George W. Bush sent his personal thanks. They raised more than $2 million. Thanks Ollie.
