OUR LOST RAIDERS
For 50 odd years
they lay at rest,
Raider Marines
from the Corps' very best.
Raiders whose action
gave their all;
Names that never
were on a wall.
But all remembered
by their combat friends;
This Raider search
would never end!
The part of history
relates to closure,
of a brutal war
that, at last is over.
Our thanks to all
who searched to find
The long-lost burial
on Makin Island.

I have often told about being there at Quantico in June 1942 when these Marines were doing their night training on the Potomac River . I was privlaged to share a few brews with these same Marines . It was one of the most memorable periods in my career . They represented the very heart of what our Corp was & is !!! All of us in the various MOSs are there for the support of the Grunt . When a Marine talks about our Corp it is "We " not "Me" !!! I never forgot those special Marines & never will !!! Semper Fidelis PM
