JD, could you please post the following My Popasmoke E-Mail does not recognize me. Bill was my XO in 463. He also was in country in 164 and later was CO of 463, 462, and MARTD Glenview.
"Friday evening Bill and Yumi were returning from a wedding reception on Kauai where they lived, and Bill flew tourist helos. Yumi complained of a severe headache and became seriously ill. These symptoms continued for some time and Yumi was rushed by ambulance to the hospital. She died several hours later with Bill holding her. The diagnosis was a blood clot of the brain.
Bill and Yumi had been married 41 years and had one daughter, Jennifer. They met when Bill was stationed in Iwakuni in the 1960's. She worked in the office at the O'Club there. Yumi had survived the A-Bomb dropped on Hiroshima where she lived as a little girl. She was a wonderful lady who loved Marines. Please keep them both in your prayers."
