It is my extremely sad duty to inform you that one of own, an Old Tiger, a friend, a Marine has "Returned To Base". Certainly one of the finest Marines to ever wear the uniform of the United States Marine Corps.
SgtMaj. Home helped us prepare for war, accompanied us to Vietnam and guided us during our entire 13 month tour. His passion was to take care of his men, first and foremost, before himself or anyone else. In one breath he could give orders like a "Drill Instructor to a Recruit" and in the next give praise like a "Father to a Son". And to many of us, in our late teens and early twenties, that's what he was to us on many occasions: a "Surrogate Father". His influence has molded many of us into the men we are today.

Rest in peace, my friend....
"With pain in our hearts,
And a tear in the eye;
We are proud to have served with this Marine,
Semper Fi "

SgtMaj Ralph Home

He was a truly remarkable man and Marine. Tim, your remarks are so true. He was a mentor to all of the Young Marines that he led into combat. He led by example and influenced everyone that he came in contact with. His effect carried on with us even after leaving the Corps. He was respected, revered, and even sometimes feared. That is what a Father represents as we were his children.

I am glad that his passing was peaceful. He will be sorely missed.

God needed another good Marine and he has reported to his last duty station. There are no words that can comfort his relatives and his extended family. We share and carry this loss with you and know that you haven't walked this road alone. He is missed by all that knew him.
