Donald Wade Soper Jr. "Sope" was born on February 22, 1936, in Decatur, IL, and passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, in Fresno, CA. Sope was many things to many people, husband, father, friend and fellow Marine, but above all, he was a man of integrity. His love of family and country ruled the day. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Amelia Soper; brother, Steven Soper; sisters, Janice Newkirk, and Carmen Lavarello; sons, Don, Mike and John Soper; daughter, Lori Hunter; daughters-in-law, Judy, Terri, and Lisa Soper; son-in-law, Robert Hunter; grandchildren, Michael and KerryLynn Soper, Casey and Daniel Edwards, Amanda and Adam Soper, Matthew, Mitchell and Mackenzie Soper; and great-grandson, Morgan Soper. A legacy, of which, he was extremely proud. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns and Blair Funeral Home on Monday, May 2, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. immediately followed by a Graveside Service at St. Peter's Cemetery.
