Wally...Thanks for the quick response.-This is a sad day, again, for our Brother Marines and our Corps family. This is the third First Lady of stalwart warriors of our Corps to grace Heaven's Scene in the past two weeks. Mrs Puller, Mrs Pless and now Mrs Barrow. The good Lord now has a counsel second to none.

Please add to the announcement that Mrs Barrow's services will be held as follows:

Visitation Saturday,Feb 18 from 1:00-2:45 in Grace Church, St. Francisville, Louisiana. Funeral service at 3:00.

I regret to inform my Marine Corps friends and other friends that, Patti Barrow, the wonderful, devoted wife of one of our greatest Commandants died this afternoon after a lengthy illness. Arrangements have not been finalized.

Patti was one of the most charming ladies I’ve ever met. She always had a smile and remembered Marines of all ranks with respect and friendship. Unfortunately, some five or more years ago, she began to lose her sight, but she still had a zest for life. Last year she had a series of strokes that immobilized her and she is now resting in peace.

You may wish to pass this on to others.

Paul Arst, his former neighbor in Jamestown Court told me of the death. The family notified him that General Barrow did not want to talk to anyone at this time. I just talked to General Barrow Saturday. His hearing is so bad it is hard to carry on a conversation. Please remember them in your thoughts and prayers.

Semper Fidelis
