Ron passed away last evening, July 3, 09 after a short illness. I had been talking to his wife Joyce and we new the end was near. We did manage to get a few squadron mates to call, and a couple in the Ft. worth area to to acturally visit him. Ron was an opperations clerk with us in HMM - 165 from 9/65 - 10/67. I know he flew as a gunner, and earned his Combat A/C wings. Will post the arrangements when we get them.
Stockdale
Thanks Wizzy. Does anyone remember the NCOIC of the "office"? I think it was Sgt. Ray Crofts, from Atlanta. I'll see if I can round him up. He still lives near Atlanta in or around Gainesville.
Ron Stockdale
Joe: I guess Ron would have been because I don't remember a higher ranking enlisted in the officer, at least initially. Ron was an E-5 when we left the states, but maybe when Ray came in he outranked him, I don't know. I'll try to remember to ask John Tatum, his OIC. Ray is on your locater list.
