Last evening Mike Burgess e-mailed me the obit in the San Diego paper of the passing of Sgt Major Bockelman on May 17, 2009. It stated he enlisted just before WW 2 at the age of 16, served 32 years, and retired as a highly decorated Sgt Major. No doubt he served in many units during his career, but we remember him as the Sgt Major of 165 in the 67-68 time frame. Burial will be in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on June 1, 2009.
