Dear Friends,

I am extremely sad to have to inform you through email. I would much rather speak to you directly, but our wonderful, crazy, special George is gone. He had an accident May 8th and died the 9th.

Since I won’t be picking up George’s emails and am having my friend Carolyn send this out to you, you can contact me @ 719 495-8849.

My mailing address is PO Box 88256, Colorado Springs, CO 80908.

Sincerely,

Terry Rosental"

Re: OBIT: re: George Rosenthal (VMO-6)

The following is posted on request of Col Ed Kufeldt USMC (Ret):

(email excerpt from Dennis Thompson)

"...I never knew George that well. Over the years I've met him several times and communicated with him via Email. On 7 February 1968 he was nearly killed in an ill-fated attempt to pull me from the fire that was Lang Vei SF Camp. George was a real Marine with the respect of all who knew him.

Semper Fi George, I hope you're in a better place.

Re: OBIT: re: George Rosenthal (VMO-6) Request for Memorial Service Help.

This one is for those of you who may have served with, or knew Major George Rosental. I'm sure that you were as shocked as I was, to learn of his passing in that tragic accident last month in Colorado. Well things have gotten dramatically worse for his widow Terry. Those recent wild fires near Colorado Springs have burned their home to the ground. In addition to the loss of her husband, Terry has lost almost all of their personal possessions, pictures and memorabilia. She fled the oncoming fire with literally the clothes on her back. Lt Col Russ Verbael who was another old HMM/VMO pilot, and a close friend of George has asked me to give him a hand trying to round up any photo's, stories or articles about George or any personal recollections of George that can be presented to his widow at an upcoming memorial service in ado at a date later in the month. You can contact Russ via email at: rverbael@earthlink.net or by phone at 406 781 7233 Please feel free to pass this info on to anyone who might be able to help him out...semper Fi... Mike
