See http://www.timeformemory.com/fh_obituary.cfm?obitid=33588&fhid=375&locationid=395 for obituary for Albert Neil Allen, Lt. Col. USMC (Ret), a life member of Popasmoke.

I have know the Allen family all my life. Neil's mother taught me Latin in high school
and was so happy when I finished Army flight school. She said, "You will be just
like Neil." I said, "No mam, he's a Marine. I'm just an Army 1st Lt
helicopter driver. If you don't believe it, ask Neil." Years later, Neil recalled
that she asked and he told her.

Neil was well thought of in the Silsbee and Lumberton communities. He was a proud veteran
of his service with HMM-262 in Vietnam. I never could get him to pay up and join VHPA; he
said Popasmoke was enough.

Semper Fi, Neil, RIP.

262 Has Loss ANOTHER

Sorry to hear that and I did post on the other thread, but will tell that Neil was one of the First to welcome me to 262 reunion in 2000. I grew to enjoy both He and Kim's company. It was by chance that I check on them today ,not knowing that He had past away. God has his ways that these things work out that way. I had some real good shots of Neil and Kim at the reunion last year and Kim was so helpful when I ran into some problems taking pictures. Can't tell you all how good its been to be able to continue to meet such good people and ALL by having been Marines 1st and Then Hmm 262 and popasmoke. Hope more people will see the importance of being at these Reunion's. Praying I will be there and hope to see you ALL.........This will make 10years in a roll God willing.....Semper Fi

I saw something about plans for Col Allen being laid to rest at Arlington. If anyone gets info on a date please let me know. I would try my best to be there for him.
