Respond to Sandy Usher
Jimmy Lee Usher passed away at his Douglasville, GA home on August 10, 2005. Jimmy was born in Bennettsville, SC on August 27, 1936. The son of Grover and Bunch Usher, he graduated from Bennettsville High School and the University of South Carolina. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a helicopter pilot in two tours of duty in Vietnam in 1963 and 1965 reaching the rank of major before leaving the Marines to join Delta Airlines in 1968. Raising racing Quarter Horses and flying his 1972 4 place Cherokee 235 for pleasure and on Angel Flight missions were his hobbies before and after his retirement from Delta in 1997. Jim is survived by his wife Sandy Krantz Usher of Douglasville, son Peter Usher of Dania Beach, FL, mother Bunch Usher of Bennettesville, brother Dr. Bruce Usher of Charleston, SC and sister Nancy McEwen of Newark, DE. Funeral services will be held at Whitner-Evans Funeral Home in Bennettsville with burial following at McColl cemetary.
