Gordon "Mac" McClure
Gordon went to Nam with MAG-36 in August, 1965. He worked for CWO-4 Gordon Cox, the Group Weather Officer. While Gunner Cox rotated early, Mac stayed for his full 13 months. About two years after returning to CONUS, Mac decided he wasn't going any higher than GySgt in his MOS and he bailed out. Joined the Army Signal Corps. He returned to NAM with his outfit in 70. While there, he ended up losing 7 of his 11 men when his base near Khe Sanh was under constand seige.
Mac ended up retiring with approximately 24 years of service. He always considered himself a Marine.

I hate to hear there was 7 men lost. I wish he had stayed in the Marine Corps, and laterally transfered to something else. He could have been a mustang Marine, if he wanted to be an officer, and stayed Marine. Glad he was in the Marine Corps, but when he went to the Army, he became a Soldier, not Marine. I'm sure he was a good Soldier. Semper Fi, and READY-APP.
