Gerald Alan Billips
RENO, Nev. — Gerald Alan Billips, age 59, of Reno, Nev. formerly of Mudfork, Va. passed away at his home Friday, January 9, 2009. Jerry was born April 18, 1949 at the family home in Mudfork, Va., where he lived through his teen years. Jerry was a member of Brown's Chapel Methodist Church, Mudfork BSA Troop 107 and played football for the Tazewell Bulldogs. He was voted Best Sophomore at Tazewell High School '65 and Best Looking Senior '67. Jerry graduated from Tazewell High School in 1967 and immediately entered the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served his country honorably for seven years, completing two tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1974. Jerry worked in Virginia, West Virginia, Texas, and Nevada. He was a retired mechanic. Jerry loved to spend time by the creek, river, or lake and fish by the firelight. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Joseph William Billips; mother, Elva Dora Billips; sister, Elva Jo Billips; and beloved son, Joseph Allen Bil!
lips.Survivors include his brother, David Billips; daughter, Jennifer Billips; and son, David M. Billips; grandchildren Mary, Joey, Aleisa and Damien all of Nevada; nephew, Kelly Billips of Chicago, Ill.; niece, Randee Billips of Texas; also surviving are Kathy Kolvoord of Nevada, Melinda Billips of Nevada, and Peggy Billips of Texas; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.A small memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the old home place in Mudfork, Va.; family and friends are welcome.
