On May 26, 1967, Quang Tin Province RVN. my brother Arnold was killed in action as a squadleader with "Lima", 3/5 on Operation Union II. Not a day has gone by since then that I haven't thought about him. Semper Fi, Brothers!

I know the feeling

Jim, My brother PFC Neil E Riley echo,2nd BN,9th Marines was Kia 13Sept66. You and I may have stumbled over each other at Quang Tri. I don't know 367 but I walked thru VMO6 every morning in the dark as they played "We got to get out of this place" from accross the runway on my way to HMM-262. Dale Riley

Brothers in country

I don't know either of you gentlemen but was wondering if your brothers were in country the same time that you were?
My brother Rick was with C/1/26 Jan '68 unril Feb '69, and I was in country with HMH-462 from July '68 until Aug '69.
We were able to hook up in country a few times and went on R&R together over Christmas 1968.
My brother passed away a couple of years ago and it is a great loss for me and my condolences go out to you both for your losses as well.

Duke,

I was on the delayed entry program when my brother was killed. I started out 0331 with 8th Marines at Camp Lejeune, and went to Millington from there. Ironically, I reported in to VMO-2 on August 18, 1969, which would have been my brother’s 22nd birthday. My oldest son, also a former Marine, is named after him. Semper Fi!!!

Jim, Excuse these old eyes, I see now VMO2. Sorry but i've just discovered the old tigers of 262 in April and the forty years of not talking to anyone has kind of gotten to me. Hopefully when I get to the reunion in Dallas at the end of July I can get some of it out of me. Plus I've already made plans for Reno next year.
Duke, No we were not there together. I was at the Memphis schools when I got word and was sent to Dover for escort duty. Talk about tough times. After aviation schools I was stationed first with HMX-1 at Quantico. But talk about strange Christmas days! What did you guys do? I'll never forget Christmas 68 as one long, hot, dry, dusty day delivering turkey dinners with our CO LtCol. Allen to every LZ we could find and even Santa too.
