LtCol James Aldworth USMC (Ret), 81, died Friday, June 20. A native of Cape May, N.J., he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret O'Hara Aldworth. He and his wife, Kitty, moved to Hilton Head Island in 1988.

He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University and received his
Master's degree from Stony Brook University. He retired from Grumman Aerospace in 1987.

An USMC aviator for 25 years, he served his country in combat in World War II, the Korean War and was the Commanding Officer of HMM-362 - "Ugly Angels"- in Vietnam from 1 September 1965 to 22 April 1966.

"Whiskey Jim" was the epitome of a "Marine's Marine". He was the BEST Commanding Officer I had in 26 years commissioned service. I know of no one who would argue with my opinion.

Semper Fi, Sir. RIP

IMMORTALITY *

Do not stand by my grave and weep,

I am not there, I do not sleep,

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sunlight on ripened grain

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awake in the morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circling flight

I am the soft star – shine at night.

Do not stand by my grave and cry,

I am not there, I did not die.

CO's tribute

Thanks for the heads-up on the passing of a great Marine Officer and CO. Where would we be, as a tradition bound warrior group, without the history of a 3 war Marine Officer? What an impact he made in so many Marine lives...We all need to take a moment and reflect on these great men who led us, and salute their passing. Hand Salute!
