some of you that worked the hooch in DC met Cpl Gene Gustad, survivor of Iwo Jima during one of our many years at the Wall. Poppa Gene died on 8/31. He was a really good guy.

Gene brought a mess of sand back from IWO and sent a bunch of us Sgt. Gritsters a little bag. It's one of my treasures, now all the more precious. He was truly a gentleman.
