Received from Lew Zeigler:
Thomas C Andrew Jr who was a squadron member of HMR-363 1955/1956
I got a reply from Katherine Andrew and she gave me a brief rundown on what will happen at the memorial service. I didn't know this but all 0-6's and above get the full military funeral procession at Arlington. She said it would really be nice for the 363 alumni to have any and all that they want at the service to honor Tom and she appreciates the thought. I will copy and paste part of her message in this so you can see what all the memorial service will be like. In fact I will do that here.
"Arlington will provide the prescribed full honors burial for 06's and above. At the risk of repeating myself, a Marine Band - the President's Own- will attend in processional, active-duty Marine troop escorts, rifle squad, the caparisoned horse, the flag-draped coffin and horse-drawn caisson will be accompany the body's journey to graveside with mourners following.
The church service beforehand will take about 30 minutes and the principle organist was very kind to offer to do the service. We have blocked out the hymns for organ and soloist. It would be wonderful if the HMM and HMR-363 contingent were able to attend. Arlington service will be at Ft. Meyer Old Post Chapel, just inside the post gates from the cemetery side. Enter into the Cemetery and follow all the way out to Old Post. Cemetery entry guards can give directions/map? I will forward information once it is provided to me. 1PM start of service, 4/21, Tues."......
In addition to the above his wife today informed me there will also be a flyover of jets in the missing man formation. So now you should have everything. If you need anything else please let me know.....
So as you can see, it will be the full treatment. Any contingent of 363 folks will be appreciated by his family and by me.
and the Obit.
