What a perfect aerial platform for rescue/resupply followinjg Katrina. It would take a couple hours to get there from NC and perform super-fast ops from most anywhere! Has anyone seen any video footage or have pics? What a great way to introduce this FANTASTIC flying machine to the public! It could be the stand-out hero of the entire evolution down there!

Exactly right, Frank. On Tuesday after the storm I had the opportunity to ask a very senior Marine in HQMC "Why isn't VMX-22 down there now? The guys are at their peak of training, the aircraft are running 80% or more availability, and the Marines would do what marines always do--bust their asses helping people. Iwo Jima and Bataan were in the Gulf and Ospreys recently had flown off both ships, so the V-22 would be a known capability. etc. etc."

The General responded "We offered, but FEMA said "stand by-we'll get back to you"." They never did. GRRRR.
