Today's (Sunday, July 6, 2003) New York Times has a thorough article about the Osprey in the business section.

I believe you can read it on the web at http://www.newyorktimes.com .

It pretty much tells both sides of the story. That is, it's safe/unsafe; meets/fails specs; the Corps needs/ does not need, etc.

It also covers the politics of the deal. My bet is that the Osprey will be approved because the Marines, Boeing Vertol, and Textron have enough clout to get it. The Marines need new equipment and the contractors need the business.

For the skeptics, I have been convinced that the darn thing works. However, for a long time I had to take Mark Twain's approach:

"Faith is believing what you know ain't so."

I believe you have to create an account (free) to be able to log in & read the NY Times articles. At least that iss what it told me when I clicked on the Osprey headline.

With Liberty and Justice for All. Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, and Jane Fonda can all view this.

Log in to Read the news?

You are correct. Another way to be on someones spam email list. Wish Newspapers would be in the business of publishing the news instead of collecting personal information.
