Could anyone tell me what squadron probably would have been responsible for these missions. My first tour in 1968 I was a jack of all trades really but at least 3-4 times a week I would go to the 1stRecon LZ pad HQBN DaNang.
I would wait for a UH-34 which I would board and they would fly me to different firebases where I would be met by someone and I would hand them their bag of classifed messages, we were never on the ground very long. Some days we would go to 4-5 different bases sometimes just one. They always took me back to the LZ and off they would go. I was so young and dumb I never asked many questions but they impressed me so much I extended my tour and joined HMM-161 in Quang Tri for 6 months in 1969.
I've often thought of what unit was probably responsible for that duty.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Terry.

What Helicopter Squadron

I don't know if is the same one, but H&MS-16 used to fly the paymaster and mail around from Hill-55 and AN HUA in a UH-34. That was is 69 though.

What Squadron

I'm sure the UH-34D squadron you are referring to was stationed at Marble Mountain. I was with HMM-363 (UH-34D) at Marble Mountain until Feb. 10, 1968 when we embarked in USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2). I don't ever remember doing the mission you are referring to when 363 was at MMAF (Marble Mountain Air Facility). As I remember it, we replaced HMM-362 on the Iwo Jima. They then went to Marble Mountain to replace us there. Again, as I remember it, HMM-362 was at MMAF at least until I left Country in October 1968. I think the odds are in favor of the squadron being HMM-362.

Thanks Joe!

I'll start looking at 362 and see if I can find anything. Terry
