Hello,
I'm a volunteer at the USS Hornet Museum at the former Naval Air Station Alameda.
As many of you already know, we are currently restoring a UH-34D Seahorse. Part of that restoration includes painting it to look like the way it flew for from 1965-1967. Specifically when it flew for
HMM-363 as "YZ-63"
The aircraft has been repainted & last Saturday a local artist (& Navy
Vet) painted the "Lucky Red Lion" on the nose. He did a great job.
Now that we're nearing completion of this project and dedication of the helicopter, I would like to add something of the crew to the display. I was wondering if anyone had a SPH-4 single visor helmet that they might like to donate. Another local artist who paints custom motorcycle helmets has offered to repaint a helmet to match what the crew might have worn.
If you have any questions or would like some progress shots of the bird, please email me or you can check out my hastily thrown together personal web-page on the UH-34D:
