Dear Mr Zok,

I am a producer working for an independent television production company, Raw TV
(www.rawtelevision.co.uk), based in London.

We specialize in current affairs films and documentary dramas for a range of broadcasters
both here and in the US, including BBC, C4, National Geographic, Discovery and CBS, among
others.

I'm working on a six part documentary drama series for the Discovery Channel about
people who have survived extraordinary situations. To give you a better idea of the kind
of films that will feature in the run, we are now in the middle of producing an episode
about the 1986
hijacking of Pan Am flight 73 at Karachi airport. 350 passengers and crew were taken
hostage on board the grounded Jumbo Jet. To tell this story, we interviewed one British
man who was among the hijacked passengers, and Pan Am's head of operations in Pakistan,
who negotiated with the terrorists from the tarmac.

We will interweave the first person testimony from their interviews with scenes of
dramatic reconstruction, using actors and locations, and contemporary news archive. I
have to admit, it's been quite a slog to find a 747 on which to film, but luckily we're
getting used to these challenges!

Also, we make a long running series for the National Geographic Channel called Locked Up
Abroad (Banged Up Abroad in the UK), and I'd be happy to send you some DVDs of those
films from series past to give you an idea of our style.

I have read with great interest about Eastern Exit, the Noncombatant Evacuation
Operation from Mogadishu, Somalia, in January 1991, in what sounds like a near untenable
situation.
As such I would be grateful if you could email this letter to those retired helicopter
pilots from the two CH-53E Super Stallions from HMH-461 on January 4, and the CH-46E Sea
Knight helicopters on January 6th. I would like to find out as much detail as possible;
basically from the moment the pilots got got the call, to when all civilians were safe
from harm. Perhaps they could drop me an email and I could give them a call at a time of
their convenience.

I hope the production is of interest to you and your colleagues, and it would be great to
hear from you soon.

Do let me know if there's more information I can provide in the meantime.

With kind regards

Rebecca Cody
