You have been served by the "Ace"
I knew Lt Astle in 1969. I flew with him several times..YT-20 (Cpl R.D. Knowles).
I remember a rather interesting incident around Feb-Mar 69 when I cam out of Thon Duc and landed somewhere near Liberty Bridge and Lt Astle had shut down to check his aircraft...took some rounds and actually had his mike shot in two. No one injured that day.
I had written John some years ago when he was fliying for a hospital and was a Senator in DC...if my memory serves me right.
All who knew him would recognize the Ace of Spades that he passed out all over Vietnam....you have been served by the ACE...
