This was my first reunion and as such I really did not know what to expect. I attended the MCRD graduation. I was a little disappointed that there was not enough time to walk around and find the remnants of what was there 48 years ago. I also went to the static display at MCAS Miramar and again it was not what I expected. I had hoped to see VietNam era aircraft which I could use to explain things to my wife who has had to listen to my stories for the last 33 years of marriage. πŸ™

Re: San Diego Reunion 2014

William, I also was there in 66. You never saw tourist walking around the area and I never saw a graduation on the parade ground until my own.
And from what I remember it was a much smaller and simple affair. I doubt if 20% of the recruits had family attend at mine. Platoon 240.
Miramar had one of the last Phrogs and even a more rare Dog.

Re: San Diego Reunion 2014

Some of the members of HMMT-164 Camp Pendleton hung around after the Welcome Buffet Thursday night and told us the CH-46 will be completely phased out by April of 2016.
