Jim Vaughn and I were involved with the rescue events after this incident happened. Major Bert McCauley (photo #4775) was our pilot that day.
I hope all involved with that day (Ron Luks, Paul Rice, Lt. Williams, Lt. Cherbonnier and our pilots, Lt. Harrison and Major McCauley are doing well).
This too, was only my second day of flying missions...and when I saw this photo's...it brought back a lot of memories (especially the photo of Major McCauley...who truly had ice water running through his veins).
I only spent six months with HMM-263, then transfered for the remainder of my tour (plus two extensions)up to Phu Bai / Quang Tri with HMM-163.
