Please publicize to all former Marines who might be interested.
Please forward this to anyone you know in Oklahoma who was a Marine, or
might know of an Oklahoma Marine somewhere else.
Governor Brad Henry has appointed former Oklahoma City federal judge Lee West to begin a search for Oklahomans who served in the Marines so their names can be added to a roll of honor at a new national Marine Corps museum in Virginia.
Judge West served in the Marines during the Korean war and rose to the rank of captain.
The museum is set to open in November and the names of all former Marines will be part of it. A Governors Council of the National Museum of the Marine Corps was created. Every state has an official liaison as the Marine Corps tries to make sure every former and current Marine has the opportunity to be included on the museum's roll of honor.
