Greetings to my fellow Marines from Sgt. Bill Kazlausky, 1st Marines, MACG-18, Danang and Monkey Mountain 1969-73 now residing in Columbus, OH I'm working on a book with photos on true stories of those who served in Vietnam due out in 2009. I'm in need of stories, for those who wish to share them...Name, Rank, Unit, Hometown, Year in Country, Wounded? Yes No and a paragraph of what you did and what you saw, and any photos, maps etc. that you may have saved (copies are okay) and perhaps an old boot camp photo on what you looked like 30 years ago.
I'm writing the introduction and closing with notations on the many photos I've accumulated and many will be first time published (obtained from several combat photographers I know and did several tours in Nam two years before me. The many slides I have will be transferred to paper and cd's and then donated to the Air Force Museum at Rickenbacker AFB here just south of Columbus. I need to talk to Pilots, K-9 handlers, nurses, tunnel rats, special ops and perhaps a few Aussies that were there lending us a hand.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and many thanks to Mr. Sigley Smith from the New Jersey Vets Museum for his help. Please email me with any stories or some direction or call me at work 12-8 pm eastern at 1-614-577-0220 or mail to: Bill Kazlausky 1514 Beaman Dr. Col. OH 43228 age 56 and still moving about pretty well...Have a safe and healthy Holidays too.

You might want to contact Col. J.M. Moriarty in St Petersburgh, Fla.. He wrote "Ground Attack Vietnam: The Marines Who Controlled the Skies" and in it he mentions of course DaNang and Marble Mountain but also Monkey Mountain and the four foot tall monkeys!
My uncle Sgt. Major A.M. Soliz was there too but succumbed to cancer two years after he retired. I posted a "Searching for..." a week ago looking for pictures of him in country. He told me alot of stories but I didn't write anything down, I was just a young corporal then.
Good Luck with your book hope to read it soon.
Moriarty passed away in 1994.
I was in VMO-2 when Soliz was SGTMAJ but don't remember much about him. Best contacts probably are KD Waters , Bob Carlson or Roy "ARM" Pitt.
