I'm looking for anyone who was a member of MAG-36 who was also a member of the MAG-36 Provisional Rifle Company who participated in a firefight in the early morning hours of 1/2 September 1965 at Ky Ha, RVN.

Hi,
I was a young PFC with HMM-363 that was in the provisional rifle company that you mentioned. It was called the 36th Provisional Rifle Company if I remember, we landed on Sept. 1, 1965 at Ky Ha and dug in around what would later be the airfield. Every Marine is a trained rifleman, but we lacked the grunts basics such as barbed wire, so we had to make do by smashing San Miguel beer bottles in front of our positions. We had short firefights on the first couple of nights if I remember right, but there were a lot of twitchy trigger fingers on our first couple of nights in country, and the rain didn't help.

I was there with the 3rd platoon facing the beach, we landed off the USS Princeton I think. It was light rain which turned very heavy later in the night.
There were several scattered firefights, and I heard that one Marine got wounded in the arm, but we were really spread out and were busy digging in
our positions, so I couldn't verify it.
