I am writing another book about Marines in Vietnam. It will be entitled Marines, Medals and Vietnam and will also include a medals list. This list will be far more comprehensive than the first one I compiled. In order to do this I need to determine the hometowns of the following veterans of Marine Helicopter Squadrons who earned the Navy Cross in Vietnam. The Marines are Donald J. Berger HMM-163, Charles A. House HMM-163, William H. Huffcut, II VMO-6, Alan C. Lefler VMO-2, Thomas C. McDonald HML-167, Harry E. Sexton HML-367, Jeff C. Skweres HMM-364 and John C. Thompson HMM-364.

William Huffcut, is in the 2002 directory. I'll give it a shot at finding the others. Allyn Hinton

Lt/Col Charles House

Chuck House passed away in San Diego in the late 90s. After he left the Corps, he sold real estate in Illinois. I assume that was his home state, but I don't know what town.

The guy who would know, Wyman Blakeman is also deceased.

Don Berger was killed during his third RVN tour in late 1969. He was orginally from the Buffalo, NY area (I think).

Don Berger had three tours in Viet Nam

FYI

Don Berger had three tours in Viet Nam; two of those were in H-34's. He received the Navy Cross on his second tour. He was KIA on this, his third tour, flying an R4D (C-47) in a weather related incident.

Harry E. Sexton is alive, and well living in Laguna Beach, CA. Here is his phone, and e-mail: 949-499-4929, sunebch@cox.net he was the commanding officer of HML-367 in 1970. He now has information about the association, so you 367 guys need to get him to Reno.

I lost one engine....

Hi RT,

That was Lt. Col CE Reese and we were down in the Thong Duc. All the LTs thought the world of Col Reese and probably still do. At least I know I do. I was flying his wing. One of the scariest times of my tour, thinking we had lost him.

Semper Fi,
