I'm Looking for the rest of the crew from 161 who were with me when I was knocked off the top of our bird by rotor blades. In 1968 we were refueling at LZ Stud after taking fire on resupply missions. We had a beat and I had afew leaking resevoirs so went up on aft pylon to check (doors closed) when we started taking incoming. 1st rounds were a long way off but the co pilot (FNG) engaged rotors. As I Slid off a rotor caught me in the chest knocking me off and out. I think my pilot was a major and I know one of my gunners was a large Gunnery sergeant. He carried me to the plane. I'm trying to file a claim with VA for degeerative disk disease and they said I would probably need witnesses because the only medical treatment I received was at Quang Tri and there might not be a record. Stupid I might have been but I went right back to flying thru the pain. THANKS Semper Fi John Allison

JOhn, RE: your injury. Try Doub Braman at DBraman@juno.com. also do you remember the guy we called Chief? I remember that incident but I wasn't on scene when it happened. I'll try to get some more info for you.

John,
I saw Doug Braman last night and he remembered the incident also, but was hazy on some of the details. We're getting ready to work the annual harvest fair here (we sell chili, chili dogs and real Italian Ice to support our VFW post) and I'll be seeing him regularly for most of next week.

We'll pull out the old cruise book and put our heads together to see if we can dig up some more info. Have you run it past Bill Gruby or Marty Martindale?

While we're on the subject, is it possible to get service connected disability for being a pain in the butt? Jennifer says that every so often she truly believes my time in Vietnam gave me that affliction. I told her it only happens once every 28 days and it's her fault but she's not buying it.

Later,
Ron
