I was a lowly E-3 back then working in Avionic's and often w/Aircraft Maintenance. Our CO was a Colonel Kinney who later went to work for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford,Conn. WE flew the S-58 Sikorsky Helicopter. We had an Assistant Maintenance Officer who was(then) a MSGT. During WWII he had temporarily been promoted to 2nd Lt., but worked up to Major. After WWII, he reverted to MSGT. Korea "Conflict" came along and he again was promoted to fly. This time he only made it to Captain(Temporary). After Korea, he(again) reverted to MSGT. He had flown just about every aircraft the USMC then possessed. He was a great guy, wore his wings, and he had more medals earned than anyone on the base including all Officers and Enlisted men. He befriended me and help me get on the Maintence crew so I could fly. I logged in over 60 hours in the left seat. I cannot remember his name nor know of his fate. Can you help, please.
Thanks,
Lloyd

Possibly Avery Snow

He was a Capt previous NAP in VMTB-232 in the Pacific, New Hebrides, Palu Island Ulithi & Okinawa 1944/1945. He reverted to Msgt 1947 & flew during the Korean War as a Msgt. Not sure his assignments after 1954 on. He may have achieved the rank of Major prior to reverting back to Msgt in 1947. He is deceased some years back. Hope the name may cause you to recall.
