Subject: End of search - RE: J.D. Jones
Importance: High

Dear Mike and Frank –

Late last night while working on a genealogy chart for the family, I found the following listing:

JONES, JAMES DAVID
CAPT US MARINE CORPS
KOREA, VIETNAM
DATE OF BIRTH: 01/03/1931
DATE OF DEATH: 03/30/1991
BURIED AT: SECTION G SITE 7340-Y
MARIETTA NATIONAL CEMETERY
C/O GEORGIA NATIONAL CEMETERY 2025 MOUNT CARMEL CHURCH LANE CANTON, GA 30114
(770) 428-3258

It literally took my breath away – my throat is tight and I am heartbroken to say the least. Though I sensed this was going to be the outcome during the past several years, I refused to acknowledge it hoping for the best. I have requested David’s military records through eVetrecords on line and hopefully I will be able to find his widow Emily or, failing that, one of the children. My younger brother George and I hope to visit David’s gravesite in the near future and will likely stop along the way to visit our father’s gravesite in Louisiana and stop at the Biloxi National Cemetary to visit my Uncle Glynne’s gravesite (BrigGen Glynne M. Jones) as well; he and his wife are both interred there. Be assured we will take all of your good wishes with us. I am truly devastated at this outcome.

Hopefully, I will be successful in finding Emily and then perhaps have some good news to share with you both. If you have any further suggestions in my search for Emily and the kids I will be ever grateful. I have found no listing in her name or David’s in any of the areas I know they lived.

Thank you both again for all that you have done to help me.

With love and gratitude, Semper Fi

Catherine
