Hi am the daughter of the late Joseph Hamden Jr. He served in the Marine corps during the Vietnam era and just recently passed due to complications from agent orange. I need help!!! I am trying to provide the Veterans Administration with valid proof that he was in Vietnam. His records were lost in a fire. I have an envelope that was used by him to send a letter to his family. The envelope is postmarked December 4th 1969. The address he used was MABS-15 MAG-15 1st MAW(REAR) F/S. If anyone can help me out I would be greatly appreciative. He was too tired in his last months to fight for compensation due to the exposure, and so I and my Mom are searching for ways to follow up on what he started. I hope this offends no one in anyway and would really like to vendicate the wrong even if I have to do it postumasly for him. Thanks So Very Much. daddys'littlegirl! Shilo Hamden

DD214

Shilo,
George is right his DD214 will have information on it listing his Vietnam service. Go to the website he quoted and send for it. That should be enough, all of us were exposed to Agent Orange!
Semper Fi,
Tim

Envelope

MAG-15 (Rear) was stationed in Japan, not Vietnam. If the envelope has a stamp on it it was not mailed from Vietnam. All our letters mailed from Vietnam, as the letters the troops are sending home from Iraq today, have "FREE" writen in place of a stamp. Hope you find the answers you seek. Good Luck. Mike Zacker, SgtMaj. USMC (Ret.), 100% disabled combat veteran.
