Hello:

I am a Marine Corps artillerman; my unit, Charlie Battery 1/12, 3rd Mar Div was on of two deployed that initiated "Operation Highrise" 26 Feb 1967 at Gio Linh South Vietnam. The firebase was approx 1500 meters south of Freedom Bridge, the heart of the DMZ.

I am currently writing a book about our time at Gio Linh; we were in position for 62 days, fought the first two artillery duels of the war, and suffered heavy casualties the night/morning of 27-28 April 1967.

We had a fairly steady stream of wounded during our deployment. I would like to add the personal story of a crew or crews that flew in through the artillery attacks to medivac our wounded. I will be forever greatful because I was one of those wounded you flew out if your squadron had this duty. Can anyone comment? Please contact me by email. Any pictures you have that you would give permission to use will be placed in the manuscript. Your name and unit will be added for picture credit.

Semper Fi,

Former Marine Sergeant Michael Hoskins
Charlie 1/12
