I'm working on a long novel entitled, "Wings of Valor." It is a book about helicopter aircrew members serving with HMM-163 circa 1966-1968. It is a historical fiction project. Much of my research of historical fact comes from squadron chronologies and after-action reports. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate such documents detailing the emergency extraction at the Army Special Forces Camp at A Shau. My objective is to give credit where credit is due. If you flew the emergency extraction missions on 10-11 March 1966, please contact me. I need your permission to use your name, and your story. Please help me to preserve your memories.
That sounds like Lang Vei SF Camp in Ashau. There are still a lot of Marine survivors from that extraction. 163 lost most of their aircraft on that extraction. Might try the HMM 163 group on Facebook. I was just at a 163 reunion in Jax. Probably the best source would be the Facebook group. Didn't join them until mid '68.
