Subject: Request for Information/Assistance
Message Body:
Good morning and Happy New Year,
I am a contractor assigned to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) working MACVSOG losses.
On 6 MAR 1967 (maybe 5 MAR), a SOG Hatchet force was inserted into Salavan Province, Laos, by USMC CH-46s. One SF/SOG NCO was lost and remains unaccounted for when one of the CH-46s was shot down. I originally believed the downed CH-46 was from HMM 265 but have since learned that was not the case and that HMMs 164, 165, and 262 also flew CH-46s and at various times supported MACVSOG missions.
DPAA is interested in speaking with any CH-46 pilot/crew, as well as gunship escort crews, who either were on that mission or have any recollections of the incident. We especially would like to locate the pilots/crew of the downed CH-46.
I can be reached at john.f.kull.ctr@mail.mil, as well as the phone number below.
Many thanks for any assistance you can provide.
Best regards
Jack Kull
