One of our Old Tigers has asked if anyone knows if Dale McGaha, HMM-262 pilot was KIA in 1968. The following email is self explanitory.

"...My memory is that McGaha was killed SW of Khe Sahn, 1968. I'll bet a month of your salary on it! I hope I'm wrong.

I was working a re supply in a river valley, making a left pull out to stay away from a 12.5mm. Dale relieved my section, I briefed him, he made a right hand pull out over the 12.5mm and got blasted..."

The only McGaha in the Popasmoke directory is Thomas L. with HML-167 in 1970. Does anyone have any input??

Hello Jake, I can only confirm that Tommy Magaha was indeed a Huey crewchief in "167" in '70. I have pictures of his bird TV-2 after a not so lucky day. On a mission hauling generals and such TV-2 got put in the dirt. I don't recall the details . Good luck in your search. semper fi Tom Foster Huey Guns
