I have been directed to you in hopes that you may be able to assist me in a search for information on a Col. Jesse "Davy" Booker. My wife has a passion for the unknown and hates the fact that most of the younger generation has forgotton what allows them to be here. Either way she randomly picks Ret. Marines and researches them. While at the memorial cemetary the other day she stumbled upon the grave of a Col. Jesse " Davy" Booker. She is ready to pull her hair out over the lack of information on this hero. We have found that he was with VMO-6 in Korea and was a recovered POW. Via the internet there is very little information. If you can send us in a direction to find out more on him I would be greatful. My wife says she has the "Parris Island bordom" so she makes scrap books about these marines and shares them with the students at the school she works with to inspire them to think about who they are and why. She hopes that at least her students will take the time to shake a hand rather than run over thier seniors.
Thank You for you time,
Sgt. R. Booker, USMC
Parris Island, SC
Davy Booker
Give me a bit of time to respond to this inquiry. I served with Davy Booker when we were flying FJ-4's in Hawaii in the 50's, and I've bumped into Davy at many places throughout my Marine Corps career. But, memory fades and particulars do too. However, I have sources who will remember, and I should be able to put together a package of information that will help.

Davy married my cousin in 1949. Then he was Capt. Jesse Vernon Booker "Davy". He was a test pilot with John Glenn and also one of the first pilots to refuel in the air. He was one of the men featured on POW American's in Enemy Hands (1987, I think) It was a documentary with Robert Wagner. Davy was the longest held POW in Korea.
I watched a copy of POW last night and thought I would put Davy in out of curosity. I found your message board and a Sgt R. Booker at Parris Island looking for Davy. I saw a reply by Paunch he served with Davy. Could you please give him my email address and ask him to contact me?
