An old cyber friend of POPASMOKE, Gunther Winkle, is working on a book on the Sikorsky HR2S-1/CH-37 that will be published (in English) by MMP Books in the UK in 2011.

Recently Gunther told me that he has more than enough photos of CH-37 Army Mojaves but would like to give proper dues to the Marines HR2S-1 "Deuce" too. (We can't have a book about the Deuce filled up with Army pics now can we?)

Of course this can only be done if enough decent photos are contributed. So if you don't want the Army to cover the entire Book, search your files, drawers and shoe boxes for HR2S-1 Deuce photos. Of course all original photos will be sent back after copying and photos used in the book will be fully credited.

Also Gunther offers free copies of the book to any major contributor (for example people who contributes 1 or 2 exceptional photos or a total of 5+ photos).

If you've got Deuce pics, contact Gunter!!

Paul, can you scan that lift photo in high resolution or send it to me to scan in using my pro scanner?

color profiles

Gentlemen,

here is the first color profile for my book. I intend to add an Army Arctic Scheme(red/white), Army Training Scheme (orange panels) and a Keystone scheme too.

Any further suggestions?

I'd appreciate any useful comment.

Regards,
Gunther

Books!

I'm getting jazzed over all the books.

This on on Deuces and Luminous Base... Going to have to expand the home library.

In the meantime I got some very good photos of Marines 37's - many thanks to all contributors!

What I'm particulary looking for now are pictures of 37's nosearts and 37's in Keystone colors. So if you have such pictures - or any other good H-37 shoots - please send me copies for my forthcoming book. Also any 37 releated story would be very welcome. I'd really appreciate to hear from you!

Gunther

VA Poster

I was in the new Vet Center in Pantego, Tx. last month and they have an official VA poster on the wall that features a Deuce in a photo below a map of Vietnam. Nobody at the opening ceremony for the Vet Center had any idea what the bird was but me. It's a nice poster.

poster

See if they know how to get a copy of that poster, sounds like something I would like to display on my memory wall.

Will do. I will drop in on that Vet Center and find out for you. I schooled the Vet counselors there on the history of the Deuce.

I sure would like for the Cavanaugh Flight Museum to get a Deuce for one of the next restorations, if only static display after we get the latest 34 up and flying. A Deuce on static would be ideal for walkin viewing with the clamshells open so the visitors could walk up the ramp and through the cabin.
