Hello, I am looking for photos, stories, pretty much anything I can for my father. My dad is Curtis A. Larsen or magnet ass as deemed by by his c/o at the time Althoff. He was with HMM 262 (Bill's Bastards) medi-vac and resupply from 67 - 69. The only places he can really remember are Marble Mountain 67 Aug - Dec and Khe San Dec 67 to Feb 68 before he had a little incident with the side of hill 881. I only know one name besides Althoff and the was Krieg "Hip" Loftin. But if anyone has or knows anything that they can share with me I would love to have it. He has suffered a head injury still doing what he loved flying and fixing aircraft. When a 25lb piece of wing fell on his head causing the incident as a resulting finally grounding him for good. A lot of his photos where ruined by water damage from a previous flooding, and he is having a hard time remembering faces he held so dear. I am making a book for him, it's been a year in the making so far but I would love to get anymore input I can. I am posting a picture of him in case it helps anyone remember. He is the man to your left in the picture after one of his many trips to the infirmary. My email address are kewi667@hotmail.com thank you for your help.

Re: Anything I can find

Kerri, Welcome to Popasmoke. Tell your dad to check-in with the Old Tigers at the squadron website with his contact info to get on the email list.

Hip Loftin is the squadron historian and you can email him at loftins@aol.com
Col. Althoff is on facebook - David Althoff and he remembers everything.
We just had a squadron reunion in July at MCB Quantico, Va. The next one will be in 2013 but I haven't heard a location yet. There are lots of photos of HMM-262 here on Popasmoke under the squadron listings and even more on the Old Tiger website. Good luck

Re: Anything I can find

I was able to find a few pictures that my father had and get a couple to post. I have more that I would love to share with his brethren. If anyone can name the others in a couple of these that would be great, I can only name two for sure in the pic of the crew chiefs, that would be Loftin and Gomez.I can give some nicknames but that's it. I know the one with the two on the floor at the bunk are named "peaches" the other "soupy sales" , one is my father and Willie, Duesenberg is the one trying to figure out the camera,. That's all i know, if anyone can confirm that would be helpful. I can't seem to post on the 262 site but I know a few roam this page as well 🙂 I had a correction "peachy" keene is the name.

Re: Anything I can find

Kerri, Second from the right in white t-shirt, I believe it is a very young J.C. Evans who hailed from Ft. Lauderdale. I have been looking for him myself, he showed up here in Pa for Easter, 1970 after we were both out and got his first chance to play in the snow, then I visited him in Fl 1971.
Bottom left is Arnie "Duseberg" from Toledo, Ohio. He was emergency evac'd from Quang Tri on 30March69 and I never knew if he made it till I was able to locate him last year, he retired from the fire department and was talking seriously of a move to South Carolina. Email me at dale.riley262@yahoo.com if you want his contact info.
I'd love to see a blow up of that gang - I believe is see Barry Franks, lost jan69 in there but can't say for sure.

Re: Anything I can find

Kerri the one with Willie is Clyde Williams from Patterson, NJ. I've been trying to locate him for years. I guess Williams is too common a name to run down. He always told us his Dad was an undertaker. Willie was with us from 65-67 and worked in the sheet-metal shop. Keep the pixs coming and we'll try to put names on them.

Re: Anything I can find

Another question and this one might be a long shot. I was wondering is anyone possibly has a good copy of the Tiger cruise book 66-67-68. I have seen some page copies but the quality not so good. If there is a better copy out there I want to get it reprinted I just need good page copies.
