Hello,
Just came across your NOTAM post. I was at HMX-1 from September 1966 till May 1970, when I retired.

Does anyone know of a pilot in HMX 1

named "Doc. Palacio??" We went thru Pcola together and last I heard he went to HMX in '74/75. He was a short, insane, NYC, italian with no verbal inhibitions at all. 😀

HMX-1 Palancia

This is in reply to donc.

Palancia worked for me at HMX, when I was the Green Side AMO. I was there for 4.5 great years!

Doc and I have crossed paths since then many times and we are retired in the same area. If you want to send me a PM, and your email at that time, I can reunite you two.

He has not changed and your description is more accurate than many I have seen concerning "Doc", who is a great guy in my book, and has always been a friend for me. He may have a few shortcomings, but then who does not?

No Presindents!!

Dont see any from pre-Presidental days. Was there Dec 1950 for about 3 months. Was lucky to have LtCol Kieth B. McCutheon as our CO. Our mission in those days was to be trained & form all the new Helicopter Squadrons. I was sent to LTA where we formed VMO-2. Later was in several of them & was assigned at NATTC Memphis where we established the first helicopter school. From than until 1993 Helicopters were my life. SF PM

I was with hmx-1 aug 67-aug 68 and oct 68 -aug 69. I was in flight equip. Other riggers were Sgt. M.L. Jones, Cpl. Clark(cage, as we called it back then now the white side I believe) Sgt. G.S. Rondeau (who I also worked with in hmm-164 in '68) Sgt.E.V. Clark PFC W.J. Angel and later came GySgt. L.C. Muncy and Sgt. P.L. Edwards and PFCs Barto and Beltram. Anyway HMX-1 is having a reunion April 12th - 15th this year at Quantico.

Served from June 61-Aug-62. Crew member on UH-34's (HUS) and the big Deuce. Great duty station. I served with a Sgt.Gustin? and another old timer and Gunny Fogg was the line chief if I remember. Good times. Then I shipped to Oki and Nam.
