Robert O. Natarte
Hi there.
I googled the name Robert O. Natarte. What is the purpose of your interest in him? He was my father.
Robert Natarte
I was in the same unit with him, but not at the same time. Iam researching all those who were lost from our unit, and if any others may have been lost with Robert on that chopper. www.mikefishbaugh.homestead.com
Re: Sgt Robert O Natarte
I also am interested in any details surrounding his death. Records show he was with H&S Co, 3rd Svc Bn, FLSG-Alpha as a 7141 Air Deliveryman.
Cause is listed as Accidental, Helo-related (non-crew), but there is no mention of the incident in the logs.
Re: Sgt Robert O Natarte
There were no recorded accidents to USMC helicopters on that date.
There is a mention of an un-named pax KIA in an incident involving an Army UH-1D, serial 64-13542 on that date. The crew of the helicopter are recorded as
AC 04 Bobay, CJ
P WI Edwards, LJ
CE E4 Wilkie, GT
G E3 Agner, KE
One pax is named as E5 LF Cox, but the pax KIA isn't named.
The accident case number is 0D837, perhaps the Army Aviation Safety Center could help out on more details.
Hope that helps a little.
Re: Sgt Robert O Natarte
Been several yrs since I made the post. There were 10 Service Members KIA that date but only one other, listed as air loss, non crew. Dont have a providence or grid location. not much to go one at this time. May be a case of the copter going down and only 2 were lost, with some survivors??? I may try to research futher as time permits, getting death records and his record book from St Louis, under the Freedom of Information Act.

RE: Cpl Jimmy Norsworthy
July 21 marked 44 years since Cpl Norsworthy was KIA, along with Lt Lurie, Lt Cloer, and Sgt W Foster . Hostile fire, 1968. Was flying escort and on scene with Cpl Cornett ? to check on survivors. Huey totally engulfed in flames, no chance for the crew. will remember crew, esp Jimmy, every year on that date. RIP, Semper Fi.

Here's his Casualty Report - it explains what happened, and why it's not on the helo incident list.
