Major E.E. Anderson was one of our COs at Vmo-6. He flew one of those Douglas bombers during that battle. He was later a 4 star General & Asst CMC. Msgt Russell NAP that was in my class had been a rear seat gunner during that battle. He was KIA in Korea 1952 in VMO-6. That battle was a fortunate event when they had an early spotting of the Japanese fleet. The battle was a great factor in turning around our effort in that war.
