Marines,
I have the honor to report that as of 1320, Thursday, 13 November 2007 the Ugly Angel Memorial was emplaced in its new home in the Semper Fidelis Memorial Park at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
The Ugly Angel Memorial is the first memorial to be placed in the partially completed Semper Fidelis Park. It will shortly be followed by memorials in honor of the 2d Battalion, Fourth Marines commemorating the battle of Dai Do, and the Seagoing Marines.
The memorial was conceived by the Ugly Angel Memorial Foundation in the late 1998 and was built with funds donated by members of the squadron. Prior to its move to the Park, the memorial was resting adjacent to the MCB Quantico Memorial Chapel where it has been since its dedication on 8 July 2000.
OooRah & Semper Fidelis!
Great
Great news.
Do you happen to have a copy of the inscription on the slab or know where I could find it?
Thanks in advance.
Memorial Inscription
The face of the memorial contains the following inscription:
In Memory of Those Who Paid The Ultimate Price for Freedom
God Bless – Semper Fi
The right side of the face displays, from top to bottom, the following:
Marine Corps Emblem, Naval Aviator Wings, The Ugly Angel, Aircrew Wings
And most importantly, the face memorializes the thirty-three Ugly Angels we left behind by name, rank, and day & date they died.

Tom,
I say again, "Well Done, XO".
From your post, I find myself triply blessed; I was Ugly, I was Ugly supporting the "Magnificent Bastards" of 2/4 at the battle of Dai Do, (the largly ignored, but single fiercest battle of the Vietnam War), and my first assignment as an active duty Marine was the Marine Detatchment in USS Providence, CLG-6.
I, and Lorraine, look forward to visiting the museum again, it is spectacular. Semper Fi, Robbie.
Robbie aka "Grump"
Great Memorial!
