I saw this on the new last evening. I listened to this Marine as he talked about the struggle to find Marines and their families who may have been involved. They are are now saying that the water at Camp Lejeune is toxic and has been for many years. I have enclosed the link to the story. The news reporter last nite said this could date back as early has the 1950's. Even though the article says the 1980's because they haven't gotten any proof yet for earlier years. Please read this if you or any of your buddies have been stationed there and are having medical problems or your family. This makes me angry to think the Corps that I so much care about would sell their own down the road like this. You go overseas to where ever and survie only to return and be posioned in your own home by the Corps you serve. π‘ http://www.myfoxdc.com/myfox/pages/Home/Detail?contentId=3464413&version=2&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=1.1.1

Seeing red, are you? Perfectly understandable. Here is a more detailed account of the story.
Marines blame N.C. base's water for health ills
Former residents claim tainted liquid caused cancer, birth defects
The Associated Press

ATLANTA - Thousands of Marines and their families went to serve their country at North Carolina's Camp Lejeune.
Instead, many wound up fighting it, blaming the government for failing to protect them from an enemy that invaded their lives in a most intimate way: through the water that quenched their thirst, cooked their food and filled their bathtubs every day.
The gruff ex-drill instructor is angry leukemia claimed his daughter, Janey. Parents were guilt-ridden that perhaps their own actions had ruined their daughters' health. An aging major still mourns the wife who shared his torment over their baby's fatal birth defects. A former Navy doctor's career was demolished by his rare cancer.
Each used the water that poured from kitchen faucets and bathroom showers at Camp Lejeune, an environmental tragedy realized a generation ago that is drawing new scrutiny from members of Congress outraged over the government's treatment of sick veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and elsewhere....

Water Camp Lejeune
My family, wife & 4 boys, were stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC from March 1970 to August 1972. So far I have had 2 heart attacks, open heart surgury, arota valve replaced with plastic. Of my 4 sons, the oldest, now 45, has servere back problems, high blood presure. my second oldest son, now 44 has no problems that he can blame on the water, my third son, now 43, has a severe twisting of the head when he talks. My 4th son, now 41, has severe buldging on every disk in his back, doctor says he has the back of a 50/55 year old man also complains of servere abdominal pain & is on disability from his job.
We are consulting our doctors, doing testing & trying to determine if the water is causing our problems.??

Camp LeJuene Water problems, re: the seventies.
This problem was put out over the internet several years ago. Supposedly, the residents over @MCAS New River weren't considered involved with the problem, but one of my daughters was born at the CP hospital there, and the information seemed to point to the hospital as a possible contributing facility.
I've advised her of this for the years since it was first learned of, but so far, she seems not concerned with it.
Kids seem to be doing well.
As for heart maladies, the water problem seems to point toward cancers of varying categories. The heart shtuff is probably job related.
